‘Tis the season

Happy December!

It is my absolute favourite time of the year, Christmas! Honestly I live for everything christmas and any excuse to watch a festive movie or to start planning my gift wrap. So although a bit late, I thought I would create a helpful gift guide to buying in this festive season.

I am definitely a 6 month prior buyer, meaning I start buying my christmas presents as early as June. That way I can really figure out my list and literally check it twice. Doing it this way also means I can take advantage of seasonal sales or price match days in the big department stores, if you haven’t already, get you a notepad and get comfy people because we are about to delve into a ton of gift ideas.

Homeware

Whether you are buying for someone who’s style you don’t know, or someone you know like the back of your hand, you can achieve a lot with gifts for the home. One of my go-to gifts, not only because I love them myself, but because they literally make great gifts, are candles. People you cannot go wrong with a good, beautifully package and scented candle. I don’t think it’s possible to not be ‘a candle person’ they are just yet to experience the vibe lighting a couple candles can do for their soul! Honestly. So give them the opportunity, my new candle spot is, LoveAroma they have some great deals and an amazing selection on my favs, Yankee Candles. When I couldn’t get my hands on the christmas wax melts this year, Love Aroma came through for me and had them all in stock. Another place I would say to explore is TKMAXX, it’s a right place right time kind of thing with tkmaxx but you can definitely find some gems on both candles and diffuser sets. Of course if you have a bigger budget to blow then you can check out the crème de la crème, Diptyque and Jo Malone .

Other homey bits that make for good gifting are coffee table books, candle holders, coaster sets, duvet sets and throws and blankets – big chunky hand knitted blankets are definitely in this season. I use NotOnTheHighstreet ZARA HOME and Tiger (in store) for a lot of my home bits, but be warned if you’re a lover of homeware take a chaperone or you might end up spending your whole weekend and bank balance in these stores.

Small Leather Goods

This year, I have had a real thing for pouches, purses and card holders. I might have brought a few more for myself than for presents.. but next year these will all be strong contenders. My new favourite that I recently found and ordered from is The Aurora Store. These guys have an amazing range of card holders and evening pouches and the prices are the best part. You can also choose to have your choice of a gold or silver monogram. The quality is great and so is the customer service. for a slighter higher price tag, of course, good old Aspinal of London has to take the spot. They have a great range of  all things leather and beyond.

Stationary

One of my favourite things to receive and something everyone can do with, we can all do with a touch of organisation in our life right? handily the start of the new year after christmas works well for diary lovers. Planners make for nice thoughtful gifts especially if you can monogram it or choose a design particular to the person you are buying for. My diary for 2018 is from Kikki. K, I am obsessed with it and love all the little extra’s you get like stickers and added pages at the back, these work well if you enjoy customising your diary and adding your own extra bits. Another brand I love is Iconic, this is a Korean brand but can be easily purchased online in the UK from Sticker Stacker or Fox and Star. I’ve only ever used the undated planners which means I could start it at any point in the year and fill as I go, but if you’d rather have everything filled in they also have a dated version. Kikki. K along with Paperchase and Coconut Lane are a few of my favourite stationary spots, they have beautifully designed items to the more quirky and fun stuff. For anyone buying for a young, tech obsessed, social media fanatic Coconut Lane have a great range of laptop skins/stickers in a bunch of different designs, a great gift idea to give something a little different.

Cosy Wear

This may be a little out there.. but personally I don’t see anything wrong with a good hat and scarf set, granted that it is genuinely a pleasing item and actually works with your recipients style, and even better that they actually wear them. ZARA HOME and ZARA as a matter of fact are both in my top three knitwear hot spots. The lounge wear, pyjama sets and slippers in ZARA HOME are amazing! These guys do not fault on designed, unlike ZARA, ZARA HOME don’t have as many stores so your best bet is to search online for your closest or just order from the website.

Lastly, my final suggestion and one I have used many a time is the ASOS gift category. Even if not to buy, this will definitely help to get your gifting hat on. You can use this as a starting point to inspire some great idea’s, which you can go on to find (a lot of the time cheaper) elsewhere.

I hope you found at least a little solace and sanity if you have or are having trouble with gifting, try to find the fun in it, after all it is the reaction we all love to see.

You’ve given me some good ideas for next Christmas. I’ll definitely start getting gifts earlier next year, and I’ll get myself a diary so I don’t lose track of what I’ve bought. (let’s hope I use it 😂)
