Here it comes, my first winter tinged post of the year – I hope you don’t mind! I’m so ready for Winter, I’m secretly celebrating as the temperature drops. So.. in good preparation I’m sharing my top binge worthy Netflix series just in time for the changing seasons and the colder evenings!
01: Bates Motel
You know a series is good when you can’t wait to get home, collapse on your bed and watch Netflix all night! I reluctantly started this series (thanks to my sister) and got through 5 seasons in little over a month. It’s based on the infamous Psycho; and Norman Bates’ journey from his younger years, and his dark dual-character manifestation. This has everything, it’s slightly odd that a series can be so dark (everytime you think it can’t get worst..it gets worst) yet you form such attachments to the characters. This one defiantly deserves a round of applause for the acting, particularly Norman and Norma. All in all, it’s sad, funny, moving; basically, -it’s a must watch!
02: Stranger Things
Once 17.00 hits on a Friday, your only priority should be ordering the Dominos and having the Hagaan Daz ready; that’s your weekend sorted and season one down. This is definitely one to add to the list for the Autumn months. A sci-fi comedy with extreme squad goals. To be honest I’m usually not a fan of any 80’s themed programme, but it was an obvious fit and probably would’t have been what it is, without it.
03: Black Mirror
A show way before it’s time! I remember watching the first season years ago, when it was on TV-on-demand on Virgin, way before it’s Netflix days. Each episode explores a different story, mainly related to tech and society and makes a mini movie of it. Plenty of plot twists, and thought provoking content – this is the series you watch, and then discuss with a group of friends; you gotta love a good old conspiracy discussion. If you’ve watched, let me know your thoughts!
04: Death Note
Although, technically, an anime series, you don’t need to be an anime-lover for this one. Excluding any spoilers, the main gist of this centres around a mysterious book. Which holds the ability of ending the life of any person, who’s full name is written inside (along with a few other imaginative details). Give the first few episodes a watch, you’ll be able to decide pretty quickly if it’s a love or loath thing. As with most anime series, episodes tend to be about 23 minutes long – so you can really rack up the episodes in your binging sessions.
So there’s a few series that will carry you well into winter, and maybe even to next year. There’s still a ton of series I haven’t mentioned here that are worth a watch; these ones just happen to be a few of my favs. Enjoy!!
